Peter Szatmari has been working in the field of autism and pervasive developmental disorders for 20 years. His research has included investigating the clinical expression of Asperger Syndrome, conducting a follow-up study of high functioning PDD children with autism and other types of pervasive developmental disorder, a family study of autism/PDD, a study of the genetics of autism (supported by CIHR) and a study of anxiety and mood disorders in adolescents with Asperger Syndrome and autism (supported by the Ontario Mental Health Foundation). Dr. Szatmari is currently Professor and Vice-Chair, Research, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University, the Director of the research training program in the department, and a member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies. Dr. Szatmari is Editor of the journal, Evidence-Based Mental Health, and serves on the editorial boards of several other journals. |
